Yoker, Albert (1834 - 11 JUL 1894)
Albert Yoker, a German about sixty years of age, who lived out near
the end of sixth street (Neillsville, Clark County), took his life
sometime Wednesday night by hanging himself in his barn.
It had been his habit to go down to the barn to sleep during hot
nights, so nothing was thought of his absence from the house till
he was called for breakfast. He was then discovered dead, hanging
in the barn.
The rope had been thrown over a beam and tied to his neck, but so
loose that his feet touched the ground and he had to bend his knees
to accomplish his purpose. No cause was assigned for the deed,
though it is supposed that drink was the cause.
Justice Glass was called and ordered the body cut down and removed
to the house. It is so clear a case of suicide that no inquest will
be held.
