Markey, Edward H. (23 DEC 1844 - 15 SEP 1894)


E.H. Markey died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County), Saturday morning, Sept. 15, 1894, at the age of 50 years, and was buried Monday afternoon under the auspices of the G.A.R. Post, of which he was a charter member. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. G.N. Foster.

He was born Dec. 23, 1844, in the town of Duleek, Meath County, Ireland, and came with his parents to Lawrence County, Mass. At the age of four years after and eight years residence there he came to Black River Falls, and Nov. 5th, 1861, he enlisted in Co. 1, 11th, Wis. Vol. Infantry. He was discharged Oct. 9, 1865. From the Falls he came to Neillsville, where he has since resided. He was always a kind husband and generous friend.
