Short, Mrs. James Sr. (1813 - 24 MAR
1895)
Mrs. James Short Sr. died on Sunday afternoon
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Neff, in the town of Levis, Clark
County, aged 81, after a five days illness of congestion of the
brain.
She came to this county from Scotland when she was four years old.
Since her husband died four years ago, in Jefferson County, she has
lived with her daughter in Levis. She had a family of eleven, seven
of whom are living, Mrs. Neff in Levis James, George, John, and
Andrew in Shortville William in Cambridge, and Stephen in
Dakota.
The deceased was in every respect a worthy old lady, very highly
respected to all who knew her. She loved her Bible and her religion
was of that type that shone to advantage in suffering. The funeral
services were conducted by Rev. Hill on Tuesday morning at Mrs.
Neff's, and her remains were carried to the railway depot to be
conveyed from her to Cambridge to be interred beside that of her
husband.
