Twait, Julia (18 APR 1914 - 23 MAY 2002)
COLBY - Julia Twait, 88, Colby, formerly of
the Owen and Withee area, died on Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the
Angelus Retirement Community, under hospice care, where she had
resided the past two years.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Maurina Funeral
Home in Owen. Rev. Terri Blomberg will officiate and burial will be
in Riverside Cemetery, Withee. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hester,
Kim Pomputis, Roger Pomputis, Roland Bingham, Harold Sorenson and
Richard Sorenson.
Visitation with family and friends was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at
the funeral home.
The former Julia Pomputis was born April 18, 1914, in Waukegan,
Ill., the daughter of Peter and Josephine (Dvaarvis) Pomputis.
Julia and Elmer O. Twait were united in marriage on Jan. 18, 1943,
in Minneapolis. They both were employed with the R. Cooper Jr.
Distributors in Chicago, in the shipping department ,for 27 years.
Upon retirement in 1978, they moved to the town of Longwood, rural
Owen. Julia enjoyed fancy work, especially crocheting and
embroidery, and the challenge of a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
Julia will be dearly missed by her friends and many nieces and
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and sister-in-law,
Josephine Pomputis of Willard.
Preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Twait on Dec. 1, 1999 three
sisters, Lucille Jantis, Anne Pautz and Mary Reinhardt and four
brothers, Adolph, George, Tony and Alfred.
