DEATH OF HENRY
STERNS
Henry Sterns, formerly well known here, died at Duluth, March 15,
1922.
Henry Stearns was born December 29th, 1855 in Kankakee, Illinois.
About 1860 he came to Clark county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
G. Stearns. They settled first in Weston Rapids and later moved to
Neillsville. Here he grew up and attended school. All his later
life was spent in the timber business. He stayed in Clark county,
running camps until the timber was about exhausted, then went to
northern Minnesota where he has been ever since, working either as
foreman or timber estimator. For the past five years poor health
made it impossible to carry on any work. In 1898 he married
Christine Roder of Granton, who died on Dec. 29th, 1921. Two
children were born to them, Stella, who died in infancy, and Ruby,
a student in the University of Minnesota, who survives. The remains
were brought here for burial last Thursday, accompanied by the
daughter. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church
Saturday, Rev. Longenecker officiating.
