Schlinsog, Ruth (14 MAY 1918 - 30 MAY 2002)


GRANTON - Ruth Schlinsog, age 84, of Granton, Clark County, WI died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at her daughter's home in Chili, Wisconsin.

Ruth Nita Schlinsog was born on May 14, 1918 in Fremont Township, Clark County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Grant and Ora (Zimmerlee) Snyder. She attended Heathville Grade School in Fremont Township, Granton High School and then graduated from Neillsville High School. Ruth went on to Beauty Culture College in St. Paul, Minn., where she obtained her operators license and then worked as a beautician. On August 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Harold A. Schlinsog. They were married in Ruth's parents home in Fremont Township on her parent's 40th wedding anniversary. After their marriage, Ruth and Harold purchased his parents' family farm on Hwy. H, Town of York, Clark County, where they farmed, raised their family, and resided for their entire married life. In February, 1984, Harold died suddenly and went to his heavenly home.

Ruth was devoted to the Lord, her husband, family and friends. As a child, Ruth attended Veefkind Community Church and presently was a member of the Neillsville Assembly of God Church. She taught Sunday school for many years and helped support numerous missionaries throughout the world. An important part of Ruth's life was visiting residents at convalescent centers in Neillsville, Marshfield and elsewhere. Ruth was a charter member of the Clark County Historical Society. She also enjoyed many activities including gardening, traveling and the wildlife that visited her home.

Survivors include a son, Stevyn (Retta) Schlinsog of Granton, WI two daughters, LeOra (Tony) Bezlyk of Chili, WI and Karen (Gary) Wegner of Baraboo, WI eleven grandchildren eighteen great grandchildren one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. Ruth is also survived by Jonathon Hildebrandt, currently of Mt. Joy, PA, a missionary's son who resided with Harold and Ruth's family for 5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, one grandchild, Diana, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2002 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate and interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday at the Gesche Funeral Home.

Casket Bearers are her grandsons, John Bezlyk, Brandon Wegner, Rick Osborn, Scott Schlinsog, Stevyn Schlinsog Jr. and Dustin Schlinsog.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Ruth's family with arrangements.

A memorial fund dedicated to missions is being established.
