Bruchert, Norbert B. (23 FEB 1924 - 5 JUN 2002)
Norbert "Nibs" B. Bruchert, 78, Withee, Clark County, died
Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at the Clark County Health Care Center in
Owen.
Funeral services for Nibs will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's
Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Myhre officiating. Burial will be
in Riverside Cemetery with full military rites. His nephews will
serve as pallbearers, Kurt Bruchert, Roger Bruchert, Jerry
Bruchert, Peter Rheingans, Todd Bruchert, Fred Bruchert and Kenny
Rheingans.
Visitation with family and friends will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today
at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen and from 10 a.m. until service
time Friday at the church.
Norbert B. Bruchert was born Feb. 23, 1924, in Withee, the son of
Fred and Emma (Brandt) Bruchert. He was a graduate of Withee High
School and served his country in the U.S. Army from December 1942
until January 1945.
Nibs and the former Mae Veurink were married on May 18, 1946, at
St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. They owned and operated the
Midway Bar in Withee from 1949 until 1970. Nibs was a Withee rural
mail carrier and postal clerk for many years.
A life-long resident of Withee, he was a member of St. John's
Lutheran Church, a 45-year member of the Owen-Withee Volunteer Fire
Department, a charter member of the Withee Lions Club and from 1946
until 2002, was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Mae Bruchert of
Withee a daughter, Patricia (Roger) Pomputis of Colfax nieces and
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and many
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents granddaughter, Lori
Pomputis brothers, Bernard, Leonard and Leon Bruchert and sisters,
Louise Buss, Laura Rheingans, Helen Stark and Irma Sachs.
The family will designate memorials in his name to the Owen-Withee
Fire and Ambulance Department and St. John's Lutheran Church.
