Nowak, Lorraine D. (5 November 1931 - 8 January 2013)
Lorraine D. Nowak, 81, of Marshfield, formerly of Granton, passed away Jan. 8,
2013, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Lorraine was born Nov. 5, 1931, in the Town of Lynn, Clark County, the daughter
of Rudolph and Laura (Reisner) Sternitzky. She received her education at Maple
Grove Country School and graduated from Granton High School in 1949. Lorraine
attended Wood County Normal Teacher’s School in Wisconsin Rapids, graduating in
1951. She taught school for six and one-half years in Clark and Waukesha
counties and was a teacher’s aide for Title 1 in the Granton Schools for many
years.
Lorraine was united in marriage April 12, 1958, to Anton “Tony” Nowak in Waukon,
IA. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1965. She was a member of Christ Lutheran
Church in Marshfield and the Solo-Parents Club. Lorraine loved working on family
history, listening to country music, playing the guitar and playing bingo. She
also loved teaching and working with children, volunteering at church and
attending Bible Study.
She is survived by her three children, Roman M. (Diane) Nowak, Muskego, Rebecca
L. Rauterberg, Honey Creek, and Randall A. Nowak, Cary, NC; five grandchildren,
Stephanie Frank, Waukesha, Anthony “AJ” Nowak, Wichita, KX, Spc. Andrew
Rauterberg, Ft. Riley, KS, Joshua and Jonathan Nowak, Muskego; four
great-grandchildren, Tyler Reese, Waukesha, Dylan Frank, Jackson, and Mason
Gundrum, Kewaskum, and Mia Nowak, Wichita, KS. She is further survived by a
sister, LaVonne “Dixie” Schmidt, Marshfield; two sisters-in-law, Marge Boyer,
Wisconsin Rapids, and Catherine Sternitzky, Pittsville; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Laura; her husband, Anton;
and three brothers, Warren, Forest and Leon Sternitzky.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Zion
Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. Daryn Bahn will officiate. Burial will be
held in Lynn Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 6:30
p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield and
from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church.
