Stelter, Elizabeth Helen (10 July 1924 - 11 January 2013)
Elizabeth Stelter, 88, of Neillsville died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at the Clark
County Health Care Facility in Owen.
Elizabeth Helen Stelter was born July 10, 1924, in Stevens Point, the daughter
of William and Mary (Pohlman) Embke. She attended school in Neillsville and then
worked as a waitress at the Arbutus Café in downtown Neillsville. She was united
in marriage to Frederick Stelter Dec. 11, 1943. She then stayed at home and
worked as a housewife, raising their seven children.
Elizabeth was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville
and its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of TOPS and in 2001 she was recognized
for her 10 years of service to the City of Neillsville for serving on the
election board. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and she loved watching birds,
especially hummingbirds. Most of all, though, Elizabeth enjoyed being with her
family and doing things as a family.
She is survived by six children, son-in-law, Don Walker, Diane (Stanley)
Blaskowski of Stratford, Sandra (Richard) Kren of Watertown, Frederick Stelter
of Neillsville, Linda (Daniel) Krehmeyer of Neillsville, Yevonne (David) Herron
of Marshfield, and Barbara (Mark) Cattanach of Neillsville; 25 grandchildren, 53
great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick; a daughter, Gail Walker;
her parents; and a brother, Harold Embke.
Funeral services for Elizabeth were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at
St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, with visitation one hour
prior to the services. Pastor Timothy Biebert officiated. Music was provided by
Judy Trunkel, organist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
