Ehlert, Arthur (31 December 1887 - 12 December 1967)
Funeral services were held Friday in Medford for Arthur Ehlert, 79, in Medford,
who died December 12 in the hospital there. Burial was made in the Evergreen
Cemetery in Medford.
Mr. Ehlert, a former Neillsville resident, was born December 31(1887) in Dundee,
Ill., where he attended school. On March 14, 1914, he was married in Neillsville
to the former Gertrude Galoff who died in 1955. They resided in the Neillsville
area until 1937, when they moved to Taylor County, where they were engaged in
farming. He retired in 1954 and at that time moved into Medford.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Medford and St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Yellow River. He formerly served as a school board member in
Neillsville.
He is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Louis (Verna) Hoeck of Medford, Mrs.
William (Lorraine) Kelling of Highland park, Ill., Mrs. John (Eleanore) Kulsa of
Thorp, Mrs. Andrew (Arlene) Piater of Rib Lake, and Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Kulsa of
Thorp; and by three sons, George of Medford, and Howard and Robert of Thorp.
Other survivors are: two brothers, Carl of Wausau and Erich of Ft. Atkinson; and
three sisters, Mrs. Laura Biggs and Miss Louise Ehlert of Neillsville and Mrs.
Walter (Marie) Wegner of Hayward. Fifty-three grandchildren and 26
great-grandchildren also survive.
