McConnell, Isabelle (5 October 1878 - 25 December 1967)

Mrs. Robert McConnell, 89, of Greenwood, died Christmas Day in Neillsville, where she had resided for the last four years. She suffered a stroke and old age complications.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. Rev. David Logue, pastor of the Zion and Immanuel United Church, will officiate. Burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. McConnell (Isabelle Peterson) was born October 5, 1878, in Neillsville, the daughter of Andrew and Olive (Isaacson) Peterson. At the age of five years, she went to the Greenwood area with her parents, and lived on a farm south of Greenwood, now occupied by the Lloyd Peterson family. She received her education in the Greenwood Schools.

She was married to Robert McConnell June 12, 1907, in Greenwood. Mr. McConnell died May 19, 1966. They farmed near Greenwood until their retirement in 1943 when they moved into the city of Greenwood. Mrs. McConnell went to Memorial Home in 1963, where she had since resided.

Survivors include a son, Roy McConnell of Beloit; a daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Edna) Hubert of Milwaukee; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert McConnell were held last Thursday afternoon from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. David Logue, pastor of the Zion Immanuel United Church officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Lee Jollivette, Gerald Jollivette, Dale Jollivette, Lloyd Peterson, Lester Franks and Lex Dusso.

Mrs. Wayne Voss sang, “Jesus is Always There” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Grant Slone.

People from away who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hubert of Milwaukee; Roy McConnell and daughter, Doris, of Beloit; Mrs. Freeman Christie and Mrs. Eugene Christie of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Voss of Christie; and William Hubert and daughter, Esther, of Arpin.
