Klauer, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (60th - 18 December 1967)
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Klauer of Neillsville, and long-time residents of the Globe
area, observed the 60th anniversary of their wedding quietly at their home
Monday.
Mr. Klauer and the former Theresa Kalsow were married December 18, 1907, in
Helenville, Jefferson County in the Lutheran Church. Their wedding ceremony was
performed in the German language. Their wedding followed a meeting of the couple
in Berlin while the then-Miss Kalsow was visiting her sister, Mrs. Henry (Anna)
Klauer, who had married Mr. Klauer’s half-brother.
Attendants still living were W. C. Kalsow of Neillsville, Mrs. Margaret Milling
of Marshfield and a sister of Mr. Klauer, Mrs. Sophie McGregor of Waukesha.
The Klauers lived for two years near Auroraville, when they moved onto a farm in
the Globe area, where they remained for 40 years. Retiring from farming, they
made their home for about 15 years over the old Globe Store before moving into
Neillsville.
They are the parents of three children: Kenneth of Marion, Ill., Arnold of
Milwaukee and Mrs. George (Violet) Oleson of Oconomowoc. There are nine
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
When asked the inevitable question of all people who observe 50 and more years
of married life together, Mrs. Klauer smiled, but declined an answer.
