Granton (11 January 1968)
The Granton Women’s Civic Club met last week Wednesday at the home of Mrs.
Francis Steiner. The program, under the leadership of Mrs. William Lehmann,
consisted of a talk by Gordon Vine on the American Dairy Association. Mr. Vine,
district representative, showed slides. During the business meeting the club
voted to donate $100 to the Samson Memorial Library for purchasing new books. A
book, “Columbia Encyclopedia Vol. 1” was given as a memorial to the late Jack
Crothers. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Steiner, Mrs. Marcia Crothers and
Mabel Kallis.
A belated 4-H Christmas party was held after Christmas at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Merle Bartsch. The young folks played games and skated in the afternoon.
Gifts were exchanged, followed by a lunch served by the hostess. The Romadka
club is under the leadership of Mrs. William Naedler, Jr.
The Ladies Aid of the Granton Methodist Church met last Thursday afternoon. Mrs.
Van L. Kayser was in charge of the program. Mrs. Dorothy Crandall was the
hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Loren Virnig of Marshfield have rented the Schuelke house in
Granton and are expected to move in soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dahl of the Town of York were dinner guests Sunday of his
mother, Mrs. Verla Hales.
The Romadka Homemaker Club met Monay afternoon at the home of Mrs. Emil
Henninger. The afternoon was spent socially following a short business meeting.
