Meacham, Mary (9 OCT 1871 - 1 NOV 1963)

Mrs. Mary Meacham, 93, of Colby, who had been living at the Bethel Convalescent Home the past 10 years, died there at 3:10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, 1963.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Colby, and burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery.

The Rev. James Hagen officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were Gerald Meacham, Duane Meacham, Erland Schwecke, Clifford Rosenou, LeRoy Dankemyer and Donald Dankemyer.

Funeral arrangements were made by the Lulloff Funeral Home of Colby.

The former Mary Smith was born in Monroe Co., Wis. On Oct. 9, 1871. She married John D. Meacham at Sparta in 1901, and the couple settled on a farm in the town of Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) where they lived until the time of his death in 1929.

Mrs. Meacham remained on the farm for two years, and then moved with her family to a farm west of Colby. In 1935 she moved to Colby, where she lived until 1953, when she entered the Bethel Convalescent Home at Arpin.

She was a member of the Methodist Church of Colby.

She is survived by four sons, Harvey of Colby, Kenneth of Sedro Wooley, Wash., Earl of Snohomish, Wash., and Roscoe of rural Spencer; two daughters, Mrs. Clarissa Dankemyer of Tigerton and Miss Alice Meacham of Sheboygan; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Preceding her in death were husband, a daughter, Joyce, and three sisters and two brothers.
