Bargenquast, Mr./Mrs. Hugo (Gold - 25 NOV 1963)
Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Bargenquast of Abbotsford celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary Tuesday. The children and grandchildren of the honored couple joined
them for a 7 o'clock dinner at the Club Florena, Medford, after which they all
spent a social evening at the Bargenquast home at 511 Butternut St.
Mrs. Bargenquast wore a royal blue dress for the occasion and had a corsage of
pink roses and white and gold carnations. A specially decorated cake centered
the dinner table.
The celebration was held early to enable all of their family to be present.
Ida Haenagen and Hugo Bargenquast were married Nov. 25, 1913 at New Holstein,
Wis. They lived on a farm there for five years, after which Mr. Bargenquast
worked for a year in a foundry there. They then came to Milan and operated a
farm until 1943, when they moved to Abbotsford. Mr. Bargenquast served as street
commissioner for the village of Abbotsford for seven years. Another seven years
he worked at Streckert Mfg. Co., Inc., and since then is retired.
Mr. and Mrs. Bargenquast share the hobby of fishing. Mr. Bargenquast also enjoys
hunting, gardening, and caring for the yard.
The Bargenquasts have three children, Ralph and Elmer of Abbotsford, and Mrs.
Edmund (Sadie) Hoffman of route 1, Colby. There are six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bargenquast has five sisters: Mrs. Andrew (Rose) Berenz of Mt. Carrany,
Miss Bertha Haenagen of Fond du Lac, Mrs. Elmer (Frances) Green and Mrs. Ann
Smith of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Emil (Mary) Zarnoth of Chilton.
Mr. Bargenquast has one sister, Mrs. Ed (Emma) Bahrs of New Holstein and three
brothers: George of New London, Clarence of New Holstein and Edward of
Milwaukee.
