Francel, Joseph (8 March 1908 - 20 January 1968)

Joseph Francel, 59, of Augusta, died at the Osseo Hospital January 20, after a lingering illness.

He was born on March 8, 1908, in Ely, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Francel, Sr., and arrived at Willard with his parents as a small child in 1909. He farmed in the Augusta area until his death. He was married to Hilda Abley June 15, 1940. She survives, along with three children, Joseph, Jr., and Kathleen, at home; and a married daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Josie) Clausen of Augusta.

A rosary service was held on Monday at the funeral home. The funeral was held in Augusta Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with burial in the parish cemetery.

He is also survived by three brothers, Frank of Marshfield, Paul of Sturtevant and John of Willard and by eight sisters, Mrs. Hannah Kokaly of Willard, Mrs. Frank Schnaitman of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Lambert Butzen of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Cyril Kranjc of Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Frank Klinke of Greenwood, Mrs. Tony Hribar of Chicago, Ill, Mrs. Ludvik Koschak of Orange Park, Fla., and Mrs. Ignatz Koschak of Greenwood.

Joseph Francel, 59, of Rt. 2, Augusta, died at the Osseo Hospital where he had been a patient since January 3. He was born march 8, 1908, at Ely, Minn., and when he was three years old his parents moved to Willard. He married Hilda Abley, June 15, 1940, and they farmed in Willard until 1945, when they purchased a farm near Augusta. Mr. Francel had been in ill health for the last three years.

Surviving are: his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Gilbert Clausen of Altoona and Kathleen, at home; son Joseph Jr., at home; three brothers, Frank of Marshfield, John of Willard, and Paul of Sturtevant; and eight sisters, Mrs. Hannah Kokaly of Willard, Mrs. Frank Schnaitman of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Lambert Butzen of Chicago, Mrs. Ignatz Koschak and Mrs. Frank Klinke, both of Greenwood, Mrs. Theresa Kranjc of Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Anton Hribar of Chicago, and Mrs. Ludwig Koschak of Orange Park, Fla.

Funeral services were held January 23, 1967 from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Augusta.
