Drescher, Arnold E. (6 November 1890 - 7 February 1968)
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the United Church of Christ
in Neillsville for Arnold E. Drescher, 77, of the Town of Grant, who died here
February 7. The Rev. W. C. Koehler officiated. Burial was made in the Town of
Grant Cemetery.
Mr. Drescher was born November 6, 1890, in the Town of Grant and attended
schools there. On December 31, 1913, he was married to the former Laura
Gerzmhle. They farmed in the Town of Grant for many years. He also served as
treasurer for the Reed School district for several years. In 1960, Mr. Drescher
retired from farming, and for the last few years had been a resident of Memorial
Home in Neillsville. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arvid (Jeanette) Watenpuhl of Neillsville,
and Mrs. Erwin (Evelyn) Silkey of Marshfield; two sons, Leonard of Rt. 1
Neillsville and Lawrence of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Ida Pohlkamp of
Neillsville; and by seven grandchildren.
“Sometime We’ll Understand” and “God Be with You Till We Meet Again” were sung
by Mrs. W. C. Koehler, who was accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.
Pallbearers were: Ben Dux, Raymond Zipfel, Ernest Ziglinsky, Ernest
Kuechenmeister, Walter Schlinsog and Art Hubing.
People from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Silkey
and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thiede and daughter of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Drescher and Karen of Tomah; Mrs. Donald Drescher and Wayne Drescher of
Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gerzmhle, of Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Dale
Gerzmhle of Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hinkelman of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs.
Luther Lindow and Mr. and Mrs. William G. Lindow of Chili; Val Yurkovich and
Louie Fortuna of Willard.
