Champoux, Cherri Lee (Marriage - 10 February 1968)
St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids was the scene Saturday of
the wedding of Miss Cherri Lee Champoux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don J.
Champoux of Neillsville, and Allen M. Jacoby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jacoby
of Wisconsin Rapids. The Rt. Rev. C. W. Gille officiated. Nuptial music was
furnished by the grade school choir.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. For her wedding the bride chose a
floor-length gown of Chantilly lace, fashioned with long, tapered sleeves and a
Sabrina neckline that was edged with pearls and sparkling sequins. Tiers of lace
ruffles encircled the bouffant skirt that swept into a chapel train. Her
bouffant veil of silk illusion was secured to a glowing crown of brilliant
crystals. White carnations with small red rosebuds made up the bridal bouquet.
Bridal aides were Miss Yvonne Jacoby of Wisconsin Rapids, as maid-of-honor; and
Miss Pat Engel of Withee as bridesmaid. The attendants were attired in
floor-length Princess-styled red velvet dresses with bunny fur muffs and pillbox
headpieces. A red rose attached to the muffs provided flowers.
Peter Jacoby of Madison was his brother’s bestman. Groomsman was Dennis Jacoby
of Wisconsin Rapids. Ushers were John Caves and William Jacoby.
Following the ceremony the wedding party and guests drove to Neillsville, where
the bride and groom greeted them a reception in the American Legion Hall, where
a wedding supper was held.
The bride is a 1966 graduate of Neillsville High School and currently is
attending Eau Claire Vocational School, where she is majoring in accounting. Mr.
Jacoby, a 1965 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, is currently
serving in the navy aboard the USS Mauna Loa, off the coast of Vietnam. Mrs.
Jacoby plans to join her husband in June in Bayonne, N. J.
