Neillsville Boy Scout Troop (Honor Court - 1968)
The Neillsville Boy Scout Troop, No. 64, held their court of honor last Thursday
evening in the hall of the United Church of Christ. The ceremony, conducted by
Scoutmaster Ervin J. Steiger and assisted by Don Gress, was the first held in
Neillsville in more than three years.
Many boys received the rank of second class scout and a number of merit badges
were awarded. Four boys advanced to First Class Scout. They were: Keith Steiger,
Danny Tesmer, Kim and Brad Kunze.
The highest award of the evening was the Star award to Dennis Bertz.
Six new boys were taken into the troop, three of them transferring from the
Webelos.
Guest speakers were the Rev. Jack Grether, commissioner of scouting, and The
Rev. William Dushek, chairman of the local troop committee.
Parents and guests were entertained by a skit from each patrol and a song by the
entire group. Slides were shown of Camp Phillips, followed by a lunch. Scouting
equipment used by the Scouts was on display during the evening.
The new scouting year for the Neillsville troop starts February 15. All boys
wishing to take part in the Boy Scout program are urged to have their
applications in by this date.
