Wedekind, Susan Ellen (Marriage - 24 February 1968)
Miss Susan Ellen Wedekind, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wedekind of
Neillsville, became the bride of David A. Hopfer, so n of Mrs. Jessie Hopfer and
the late Robert Hopfer, Sr., in a nuptial mass in St. Mary’s Catholic Church
February 24. The Rev. George M. Nelson performed the ceremony, with music played
by Mrs. Glenn Short. Soloist was Mrs. W. C. Koehler.
For her wedding the bride chose a floor-length skimmer of seta peau, highlighted
by a mini yoke of Rochelle lace. The gown also featured short sleeves and demure
scoop neckline. The slim silhouette was enhanced by a detachable train that
swept to a chapel length. Her bouffant veil of sheer illusion was secured to a
cloche of braid loops. She carried a cascade arrangement of white miniature
carnations, centered with a white orchid and entwined with green ivy.
Miss Nancy Hopfer of Marshfield served as maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Margie
Pekol and Linette Miller of Neillsville. Each was attired in a floor-length
dress of sheer organza in peacock-over-lace, fashioned in a cage design.
Elbow-length sleeves and scoop necklines complimented the empire bodices. Petal
clusters held their harmonizing veils. They carried cascade bouquets of white
carnations and pink ribbons, with the carnations encircled with green ivy.
Mr. Hopfer was attended by Brian Schmidt of Milwaukee as bestman. Groomsmen were
Richard Seelow of Milwaukee and David Poehnlein of Neillsville. Ushers were
Robert Hopfer and Glenn Miller.
Mr. and Mrs. Hopfer are Neillsville High School graduates. She is employed in a
bank in Neillsville, and Mr. Hopfer is a floor mechanic at a local store.
