Fischer Rosina (11 MAR 1860 – 16 APR 1947)


Mrs. R. Fischer Passes Away

Mrs. Rosita Fischer, 87, a resident of Marshfield for many years and who for the past six years had been living with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Fischer, on Route 1, Spencer, died at 9:10 p. m. Wed., April 16 at the Fischer home. She had been ill for 1 ½ years and had been hospitalized on two different occasions during that period.

Mrs. Fischer, nee Becker, was born in Germany March 11, 1860, and came to this country in 1882. She was married two years later at St. John’s Catholic Church by the late Rev. Ignatz Schaller to Joseph Fischer, who preceeded [sic] her in death May 6, 1935.

Surviving are three sons, Frank, Chicago, and John and William, both of route 1, Spencer; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her only other surviving relative in this country is a brother, Anton Beck [Becker?] of Brooklyn, N. Y.

A daughter, Mrs. William (Rose) Burggraf, preceeded [sic] her in death and two sons Joseph and Charles, died in infancy.

Before going to Spencer to live with her son, Mrs. Fischer had spent 24 years in the city of Marshfield and a like number of years on a farm on route 4 Marshfield.

The body was at the Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where a Rosary Service was conducted Friday evening at 8:00 o’clock.

On Friday afternoon a combined Rosary Service for the Third Order of St. Francis, The Altar Society of St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield and The Christian Mother’s Society of Christ The King Catholic Church of Spencer, was held. She was a member of all three groups.

The Solemn Requiem High Mass was read Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock at St. John’s Catholic Church at Marshfield. Assisting the Rev. Bernard Henry, celebrant at the mass, was the Rev. Charles H. Herbers and the Rev. Arthur G. Dresen of St. John’s as deacon and sub-deacon. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.

Pallbearers were Jake and John Weis, John Drachenberg, Ed. and John Hardinger and John Fischer, Flowers were carried by Cecelia, Gertrude, Theresa and LaVerne Fischer and Mrs. Lawrence Fischer.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fischer and son William and daughter LaVerne, Chicago, and Miss Lorraine Fischer and Mrs. Raymond Dietrich, Milwaukee came for the funeral.
