Potts, Burdette J. (19 January 1884 - 17 March 1968)

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Burdette J. Potts, 84, of Rt. 1 Greenwood, who died Sunday in a Marshfield hospital. The Rev. Carl Booher of the Methodist church in Greenwood officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Potts was born January 19, 1884, in Tama County, Ia. His parents were the late Alex and Catherine (Randolph) Potts. He attended schools in Iowa, later going to South Dakota, where he was engaged in farming. On March 30, 1905, he was married in De Smet, S. D., to the former Alma Rich. While living in South Dakota he was a school board member for several years.

In 1929, he came to Wisconsin and located on a farm in the Town of Weston. The family lived in Neillsville from 1945 to 1952. For the last six years he has made his home with his son and wife in the Town of Weston.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Madeline) Clintsman of Rt. 1 Greenwood; and a son, LaRue Potts of Rt. 1 Greenwood; and a brother, Floyd Potts of Neillsville.

Funeral services were held March 20 from the Georgas Funeral Home for Burdette J. Potts, 84, of rural Greenwood, who died March 17, in Marshfield. The Rev. Carl Booher of Greenwood officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Erwin, Floyd and Harvey Heck, Edward Anderegg, Francis Suckow and Lee Mills. Ellis Wall sang, “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

People from away here for the funeral were: Mrs. Milton Gahert, Donna and Marcia, of Gilman; Hugh and Bob Potts of Gilbert, Minn.; Catherine Heinrich and Eddie Potts of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Potts of Delafield; Mary Taylor of Wisconsin Rapids; Nellie Oehler Tischendorf of Dorchester; and Cecil Oehler, Sophie and Irving Oehler of Abbotsford.

From Greenwood were: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Duda, Anita Miller, Harvey Heck, Mrs. Edward Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Anderegg, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Heck, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Heck, Hugh Christie, Arnold Syth, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clintsman, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Suckow, Eleanore Clintsman, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Johnson, Mrs. Fred Clintsman and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Clintsman.
