Dins, Albert E. (30 JUL 1931 - 3 FEB 2013)

Allen E. Dins, 81, of Colby died Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, due to an apparent heart attack.

Allen was born July 30, 1931, in Colby to Albert and Edna (Mandel) Dins. He attended Colby schools and was a member of the Colby High School graduating class of 1949.

He continued his education at the UW Marathon campus before transferring to the UW Madison. He enjoyed his college years-even hitch-hiking home. Allen graduated from the UW with a degree in accounting and, as a result of the years spent in Madison, he was an avid Badger fan.

Allen was employed by several firms in Medford and Marshfield. Also, during that time he worked from home and kept the books for various local businesses and did tax work. He especially enjoyed preparing taxes and talking to his many clients. Allen always took a great deal of pride in his work and was known for his skill-he officially retired last year.

Being a very thoughtful person, Allen enjoyed giving gifts to his many friends. Shopping was one of his passions. Also, known to be a gregarious individual, he loved to socialize and entertain others. He threw many fun-filled cocktail and birthday parties throughout the years. And, of course, he loved to tell a good joke or hear one.

One thing he always looked forward to was going to Las Vegas with his sister. He was proud of the fact he went at least once a year since 1969 and was just planning the next trip for April. Having been to Vegas over 50 times, he naturally had many friends out west and enjoyed seeing them each year. By the way, he was greeted, there was no doubt the feeling was mutual.

Allen enjoyed dining out, going to the casino (the overnight trips to Turtle Lake), and talking to his friends. He could converse with anyone. He especially enjoyed spending time with his sister and, in his opinion, she could not visit often enough. Allen and Rita had / have a very special relationship.

Allen is survived by his sister Rita Dins Aschenbrenner of Rosholt, his brother Paul of Colby and special friend Kim Dawson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services for Allen will be on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford at 1:00 PM. Reverend Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, February 8 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and on Saturday from noon until time of services at the funeral home.

Maurina Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting the family with arrangements.
