Herr, Josephine B. (18 JAN 1917 - 1 FEB 2013)
JOSEPHINE B. HERR, age 96, of Marshfield, formerly of Greenwood, died at
Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield, on Friday, February 1, 2013. A
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at
St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Greenwood. Rev. Joseph Follmar and Rev. Eric
Berns will officiate and interment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Herr, Brandon Herr, Guy Willis, Ron Wilczek, Adam
Yaeger, and William Martin. Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday,
from 9:30am until time of service.
Josephine Barbara Schmitz was born on January 18, 1917 in Norwalk, WI, the
daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Lindner) Schmitz. When she was a young girl,
her family moved to Greenwood, where she was raised and received her education.
Josephine was united in marriage to Joseph Albert Herr on June 18, 1940 at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church and the St. Ann's Society. Josephine and her husband farmed north of
Greenwood for 30 years. Her many interests included crocheting, quilting and
gardening, which especially included her perennial flowers and raspberries. Her
grandchildren and great-grand grandchildren brought tremendous enjoyment to her
life.
Josephine will be dearly missed by her daughter: Kathleen (James) Martin of
Green Bay; her son: William Herr of Greenwood; seven grandchildren: William
(Diane) Martin, Sara (Andrew) Schiller, Karrie (Guy) Willis, Teri (Ron) Wilczek,
Kristy (Adam) Yaeger, Tom (Michelle) Herr and Brandon Herr; nine great
grandchildren: Sam, Gracie and Sophia Wilczek, Ross and Ally Yaeger, Abigail and
Katherine Martin, William and Gwendolyn Schiller; two sisters: Carol (Burnell)
Yaeger of Greenwood, Mary Ann Kocher of Lake Holcombe; nieces, nephews and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on November 24, 1982; her
parents; two sisters: Cecilia Bertz and Catherine Hefner; two brothers: Hubert
and Otto Schmitz; and her daughter-in-law: Jane Herr on September 21, 2012.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caring staff
of Stoney River, Ministry Home Hospice and the Palliative Care unit at Ministry
St. Joseph's Hospital and to Fr. Follmar and Fr. Berns for their support and
prayers.
