Patey, Elvira (29 MAR 1931 - 3 FEB 2013)
Elvira Patey, age 81 of Neillsville, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013 at her
home in Neillsville surrounded by her family.
Elvira was born in Neillsville on March, 29th 1931, the daughter of John and
Hilda (Meyer) Thoma. She attended elementary school at Worchel Elementary School
and graduated from Neillsville High School. On August 26, 1950 she married Dan
Patey at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe, Wisconsin.
Elvira was employed at Strack Photography, Jennie Floral and Luedke Floral. She
was active in sports, golf, PEO, American Red Cross and volunteered at the
Memorial Medical Center gift shop. She was a member of UCC Church and the Circle
of Friends.
Elvira had a passion for flowers and gardening. Her floral and wreath
arrangements were often created for friends and family. She shared many of her
perennial plants, so her passion for gardening continues on in many gardens.
Survivors include her husband Dan, Neillsville; her four children: Connie Simek
of Neillsville, Cathy (Glenn) Johnson of Eau Claire, John (Rita) Patey Rock Dam
and Jim Patey of Eau Claire; two sisters Jennie Dux and Arlene Hediger and
sister in law, Virginia Thoma all of Neillsville. She is also survived by eight
grandchildren; Jeff Simek, Jason (Kate) Simek, Julie Simek, Jennifer (Kyle)
Melcher, Amy (Jeff) Felce, Jeremie (Jennifer) Johnson, Michael Johnson and
Daniel Patey; four great -grandchildren; Liam and Lucy Felce, Payton Johnson and
Briana Simek.
Elvira is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Thoma and her
brothers- in- law Louis Dux and Kurt Hediger.
Memorial may be sent to Memorial fund at UCC Church, UW Carbone Cancer Center.
A Memorial Service for Elvira will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9,
2013 at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, WI. Pastor Joe Weiers will
officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist and Wendell and Kathy
Attoe, vocalists. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 p.m., Saturday at the
United Church of Christ. Inurnment will be at a later date in Neillsville City
Cemetery.
