Droege, Marleen Sophia (Marriage - 6 April 1968)
Miss Marleen Sophia Droege, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Droege of
Sheboygan, and Dennis A. Mech, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mech of Neillsville,
exchanged nuptial vows April 6, in the First Methodist Church in Sheboygan.
The Rev. Parry Jones performed the 3 p.m. double ring ceremony before an altar
graced with vases of white gladioli and daisies. Four candelabra and palms were
on the lectern and pulpit. Candlesticks of wrought iron on the pews were trimmed
with greens and white bows.
For her wedding the bride chose an A-line gown of silk organza and peau d’ange
lace, styled with a sleeveless coat that fell into a chapel train. Her bouffant
veil was attached to a lace shell that was centered with fabric petals and pearl
drops. She carried a cascade arrangement of white butterfly roses and foliage of
ferns.
Her attendants were Susan Schiefelbein of Wausau as maid-of-honor; Mrs. Thomas
Seipel of Berwyn, Ill., Miss Vicki Mech of Greenwood, Susan Martin of Chicago,
Ill., and Bonnie Droege of Sheboygan, bridesmaids. The bestman was Dean Hunt of
St. Paul, Minn.; Thomas Seipel, Arthur and David Droege and William Mech,
groomsmen. Ushers were Bradley and Thomas Berger of Poughkeepsie, N. Y.
Following a wedding supper attended by 150 guests, Mr. and Mrs. Mech left on a
wedding trip. They will reside in Stevens Point, where both are seniors at
Wisconsin State University.
Mr. Mech is a 1959 graduate of Neillsville High School and has completed four
years of service in the Navy. The new Mrs. Mech is a graduate of South High
School, Sheboygan.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Mech and son, Bill, spent the weekend in Sheboygan. A
rehearsal dinner was given Friday evening by the groom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Melvin Mech, at a restaurant in Sheboygan.
