Patey, Elvira (29 March 1931 - 3 February 2013)

Elvira Patey, 81, of Neillsville passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, at her home in Neillsville surrounded by her family.

Elvira was born in Neillsville March 29, 1931, the daughter of John and Hilda (Meyer) Thoma. She attended elementary school at Worchel Elementary School and graduated from Neillsville High School. She married Dan Patey Aug. 26, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe.

Elvira was employed at Strack Photography, Jenni Floral and Luedke Floral. She was active in sports, golf, PEO, American Red Cross and volunteered at the Memorial Medical Center gift shop. She was a member of UCC Church and the Circle of Friends.

Elvira had a passion for flowers and gardening. Her floral and wreath arrangements were often created for friends and family. She shared many of her perennial plants, so her passion for gardening continues on in many gardens.

Survivors include her husband, Dan, Neillsville; her four children, Connie Simek of Neillsville, Cathy (Glenn) Johnson of Eau Claire, John (Rita) Patey of Rock Dam, and Jim Patey of Eau Claire; two sisters, Jennie Dux and Arlene Hediger, and sister-in-law, Virginia Thoma, all of Neillsville; eight grandchildren, Jeff Simek, Jason (Kate) Simek, Julie Simek, Jennifer (Kyle) Melcher, Amy (Jeff) Felce, Jeremie (Jennifer) Johnson, Michael Johnson and Daniel Patey.; four great-grandchildren, Liam and Lucy Felce, Payton Johnson and Briana Simek.

Elvira is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Henry Thoma; and her brothers-in-law, Louis Dux and Kurt Hediger.

Memorials may be sent to Memorial Fund at UCC Church, or UW Carbone Cancer Center.

A memorial service for Elvira will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Joe Weirs will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist, and Wendell and Kathy Attoe, vocalists. Inurnment will be at a later date in Neillsville City Cemetery.
