Schultz, William (15 MAY 1923 - 8 FEB 2013)

William "Bud" Schultz, age 89, of Unity, passed away Friday, February 08, 2013 at the Golden Living Center, Abbotsford. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, February 11, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. Reverend Al Houts will officiate. A visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 4 to 8 PM at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church in Unity. Burial will follow the service at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby.

Bud was born May 15, 1923 to William and Esther (Goutcher) Shultz in Loyal. He was a graduate from Unity High School. Bud had played semi-pro basketball on the Unity Tigers basketball team and also played semi-pro baseball in Owen. Bud and Dolores "Del" Peter were joined in marriage on June 3, 1947 at St. Mary's Rectory in Colby. Bud was a cattle dealer, working with farmers across the state, buying and selling cattle. He was the village of Unity President and was a member of the Mid-Wisconsin Bank Board.

Bud enjoyed the outdoors: hunting and fishing; he closely followed local high school sports and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

Having no children of his own he was known as Uncle Bud to a couple of generations of kids in Unity.

Bud is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores, his sister, Irene Flink of Colby, his sisters-in-law: Sister Margaret Peter of Milwaukee and Dorothy Arnold of Tucson, AZ; and his brother-in-law, Bill Krempges of Springfield, MO.

He is also survived by Robert Flink (Lottie) Abbbotsford, Jerry Flink (LuAnn) Colby, Richard Flink (Elaine) Appleton, Ronald Flink (Virgina) Marshfield, Jack Flink, Dorchester, Karen Hoernke (Dave) Portage, Kris Woik (Denis) Colby, Kevin Flink (Kris O'Leary) Abbotsford, numerous nieces and nephews on Del's side and many great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Bud is preceded in death by his brother, Orville Schultz and sister, June Schultz.

In lieu of flowers, Bud's family has asked memorials be donated to the Unity Memorial Hall for future improvements.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the Schultz family with funeral arrangements.
