Schultz, Alfred L. (30 August 1916 - 1 May 1968)
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for
Alfred L. Schultz, 51, who died May 1 in the Veterans Hospital in Tomah. The
Rev. E. G. Burtness of Calvary Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was made in
the Town of Weston Cemetery.
Mr. Schultz was born August 30, 1916, in the Town of Weston, where he attended
school. He entered service in World War II October 28, 1942, and was discharged
June 11, 1943, in California. Since that time he had farmed and worked in
veterans’ hospitals in Sparta, Hines, Ill., and at Tomah. He had been a resident
of Tomah for the last four years. He was married in 1948 in Lodi to the former
Norma Flaig.
Mr. Schultz is survived by his wife; four children, John, James, Gerald and
Jane. He is also survived by six sisters: Mrs. Howard (Margaret) Lawson of
Neillsville, Mrs. Raymond (Lillie) Massie of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Edward (Leona)
Fabry of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. William (Mabel) Bertrang of Fairchild, Mrs. Vincent
(Jeanette) Formaggio and Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Holtz, both of Chicago, Ill.; and
by two brothers, Bernard of Elmhurst, Ill., and William of Neillsville.
He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville.
Pallbearers were: Gus Hagen, Louie and Julius Hagedorn, Carl Eslinger, Fritz
Grap, Sr., and Ted Mitte. “For Me to Live in Jesus” and “Abide with me,” were
sung by Robert Mitte, accompanied by Mrs. E. G. Burtness.
People from out of town here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Massie,
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fabry, Mrs. Vincent Formaggio, Leonard Fabry, Mr. and Mrs.
James Primm, Bruce Formaggio, Barbara Formaggio, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Holtz,
all of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Schultz and Adam Schultz of Elm
Grove, Ill.; Mrs. Norma Schultz, Mrs. Stanley Flaig and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Flaig
of Ontario; James Schultz of Hillsboro; Mrs. Ila Olson of Westby; John Rulland
of Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. William Bertrang and family of Fairchild;
Miss Susie Poernic of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Palms of Thorp; Clarence
Sidelky of Racine; Edwin Klueckmann of Eau Claire; and Sam Grap of Greenwood.
