Greenwood (9 May 1968)
A mother-daughter banquet will be held Saturday evening in Immanuel United
Church. Serving the meal will be the men and boys of the congregation, beginning
at 7:30 p.m. The committees include: Mrs. Walter Schwarze, Mrs. Fred Timmler,
Mrs. Olga Reineking, Mrs. Henry Vollrath, Mrs. Norman Liebzeit, Mrs. Orlin
Schwarze, Mrs. Alvin Albert, Mrs. Delmar Toburen, Mrs. Herbert Horn, Mrs. Erna
Wehrman, Mrs. Elmer Kuester, Mrs. Phillip Vollrath, Mrs. Walter Decker, Mrs.
Laura Richmond, Mrs. Emil Noah, Mrs. George Humke, Mrs. Adolph Wendt, Mrs.
Calvin Franz, Mrs. Jerald Richmond, Mrs. Arno Miller, Mrs. Elmer Meinhardt, Mrs.
Clarence Liebzeit, Mrs. Ervin Toburen, Mrs. Quinton Irvine, Mrs. Emma Hium and
Mrs. George Kuester.
A mother-daughter- tea will be held Sunday afternoon in Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church. Group four is in charge of arrangements.
A Mother’s Day dinner will be sponsored by the men of Grace Methodist Church
Sunday. Serving will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited.
Mrs. David Logue is spending Tuesday and Wednesday in Madison, where she is
attending the United Church of Christ ministers’ wives retreat at St. Benedict’s
retreat center.
Mrs. and Mrs. Gary Calbaum of Chicago spent several days at the Laverne Brown
home.
The United Church Youth Fellowship met Sunday evening in Immanuel United Church.
Jane Fravert presided. Confirmed youths were guests. The speaker was the Rev.
John Olson of Colby, who spoke on “Catholicism.” The group decided to have their
annual picnic in July. A discussion was held on attending Moon Beach Camp. A
lunch was served by the Daniel Olson and Delmar Toburen families. Hosts for the
June meeting will be the Arvin Liebzeit and Walter Rasmussen families.
The Home Interest Homemakers “nigh out” was held at a restaurant in Abbotsford
Thursday evening. Mrs. Leon Kuester gave the lesson on, “Mental Health.” Others
present were Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Mrs. Clarence Meinhardt, Mrs. Truman Hill, Mrs.
Kathryn Ivey, Mrs. Wilbur Stewart, Mrs. Jerome Sowieja, Mrs. Robert Moseley,
Mrs. Louie Vogel, Mrs. Francis Brey, Mrs. Julia Koci, Mrs. Rose Ludwig, Mrs.
Hazel Helwig and Mrs. Knute Wallin. Meetings will be resumed in September.
