College Notes (13 February 2013)

The following area students have been named to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls fall semester dean’s list for the 2012-13 academic year. To qualify they must have earned at least a 3.5 grade-point average (GPA):

Chili - Ellen Stichert, majoring in agricultural studies; Colby - Terese Kay, dairy science; Gina Redetzke, agricultural business; Dorchester - Derek johnson, conservation; Sabrina Horacek, animal science; Christine Leiby, agricultural business; Nicolette Broeske, crop and soil science; Granton - Kent Genteman, business administration; Loyal - Wade Firestone, agricultural business; Neillsville - Emily Lavalley, dairy science; Owen - Jenessa Freidhof, agricultural business; Thorp - Miranda Czubakowski, elementary education.

Lindsey Duerr of Granton a sophomore at Concordia University, Nebraska, was name to Concordia’s honor list for the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. The top 25 percent of undergraduate students who have completed at least 12 credit hours qualify for the honors list.

Elizabeth Hebda of Dorchester has been named to the St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, dean’s list (GPA 3.75 or higher) for the fall 2012 semester. Hebda is a chemistry major, and the daughter of James and Dawn Hebda.

The following Neillsville students have been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list (at least 12 credits and 3.5 GPA) of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse: Michael Apolinario, biology major, biomedical science concentration; Stephanie Attoe, middle childhood through early adolescence education; Arielle Bixby, biology; Jennifer Glaze, music major, performance emphasis; Anthony Heil recreation management; Dessa Karl, history education; Nicole Reinhardt, community health education; Mallori Sydorowicz, therapeutic recreation.

Timothy J. Gelhaus of Owen was named to the dean’s list (GPA 3.65 or above) at Clarke University, Dubuque, IA, for the fall of 2012 fall semester.

The following area students were named to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester: Merrillan/Neillsville - Jacob Hagglund, business; Kelly Opelt, nursing and health sciences; Owen - Anna Nosko, education and human sciences.

The following area students received degrees during fall commencement at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in December:

Abbotsford - Nicole Pinter, BS degree, horticulture major; Jessica Hinrichsen, BS degree, animal science major; Colby - Jeanie Untiedt, BS degree, marketing communications major; Gina Redetzke, BS degree, agricultural business major; Owen - Elizabeth Bernitt, BS degree, animal science major.
