Schelvan, Emma (January 1869-October 1961)
Mrs. Emma Schelvan, 92, mother of Mrs. Jim Christenson, died about 8:30 p.m.
Sunday of a lingering illness, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Sam Shymanski in Milwaukee where she had been making her home. Funeral
services were held Wednesday afternoon, November 1, in Wisconsin Rapids.
The former Emma Haug was born in January of 1869 in Norway and came to the
United States with her parents as a young girl and settled in Wisconsin Rapids.
There she became married to Thomas Schelvan and they lived in Wisconsin Rapids
until his death several years ago when they moved to Milwaukee. She has also
spent much time at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Christenson in Loyal.
Surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Sam (Alpha) Shymanski, Milwaukee and
Mrs. Lestere (Helen) Thelen, Milwaukee, and four sons, Ingval, Milwaukee; Ralph,
Wisconsin Rapids; Harold, Milwaukee; and Kelly, Arcadia, California. Among her
grandchildren is Mrs. Lonald Hills of Loyal. Her husband and two sons preceded
her in death.
