Butterbrodt, Allison A. (1922? - 22 JUN 1964)
Allison A. Butterbrodt, 42, McHenry, Ill., brother of William Butterbrodt, route
2, Loyal, drowned Monday morning in Anderson Lake in the Perkinstown area, about
20 miles north of Thorp.
Authorities said the man and his wife had caught a large fish and while the wife
was pulling in the boat anchor, the craft tipped, throwing both of them into the
water.
Mrs. Butterbrodt made it to shore, but told authorities she could not see her
husband. Overcome by panic, authorities said, she started across country instead
of walking along the lake shore in search of help.
The drowning occurred about 10:30 a.m., but notice did not reach the sheriff's
department here until mid-afternoon. Men in three boats dragged the area and
recovered the body about 5 p.m. in 20 feet of water.
