Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Fairview, near Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.), for Archie L. Sparkes, 73, of Humbird, who died Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville. The Rev. Fr. Mathew Malinaro officiated and burial took place in the Mentor Cemetery near Humbird.

Mr. Sparkes was born and educated here and farmed before enlisting in the Armed Forces during World War I. He served overseas in France and was discharge in 1919. He returned to farming and was a rural mail carrier for 42 years. He served on the town board for several farms and was chairman of the Town of Mentor until last year. Mr. Sparkes was also a director and president of the Neillsville Production Credit Association for 28 years.

Survivors include his wife; two brother, Ralph J. Sparkes, Kansas City, Kan., and Henry Sparkes, Eudora, Kan.
