Boie, Mae Irene (28 April 1923 - 16 February 2013)
Mae Irene Boie, 89, of Stanley, passed away with family at her side, on
Saturday, February 16, 2013, at the Country Terrace Assisted Living Center in
Stanley, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. She was born on April 28, 1923,
in Thorp, to the late Frank and Dorothea (Kuntz) Graham. Mae grew up in the area
and graduated from Thorp High in 1945. On June 16, 1945, she married Norval Boie
at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Stanley. The couple farmed in the Town of Worden
for many years.
Mae lived an active life with Christ. She volunteered at Victory Memorial
Hospital for many years as a “Grey Lady,” and was a long-time member of the
Worden Social Circle. She also was an active member at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church and later at TCF. Mae was a fervent reader of scripture and found much
joy in Bible Study groups throughout her life. Mae was always family-oriented, a
terrific baker (known for her cinnamon rolls), sold Avon products and was a
talented artist, crafter, reader and writer.
Mae is survived by her husband of 67 years, Norval of Thorp; five children:
Connie McKay of Victoria, TX, Chuck (Yvonne) Boie of maple Grove, MN, Dale
(Marcie) Boie of Thorp, Janice Raimer of Appleton and Duane (Faith) Boie of
Medford; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret
(Ron) Witt of Chippewa Falls.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Perry, Walter and Wally
Graham; sisters: Esther Dallas, Maizie Ponick and Margie Graham; two
grandchildren: Kim McKay and Brandon Schleicher; and two sons-in-law: Don McKay
and Jerry Raimer.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Trinity
Christian Fellowship, rural Stanley. Rev. Jim Capets will officiate. Visitation
will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley, and
one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Inurnment will take place in
the Evergreen Cemetery at Stanley at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials
preferred to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Chippewa Falls, WI.
