Gengler, Eugene J. (December 13, 1917 - February 27, 2010)
Eugene J. Gengler, 92, West Bend, died Saturday, Feb. 27 at Cedar Lake Health
Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church in West Bend. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Eugene Gengler was born December 13, 1917 in Medford to the late Anton and
Catherine (Bodewin) Gengler.
On October 16, 1943 in Medford, he married Genevieve M. Higgins, who preceded
him in death on August 23, 1999.
In 1952, they moved to Milwaukee where they lived until settling in West Bend three years later. He worked as a construction laborer for various area companies.
He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North American Local 113.
He enjoyed telling stories, fishing, woodworking, gardening and canning.
Survivors include three children, Mary (Michael) Maeder and Phillip (Marjorie),
both of West Bend, and Michael (Adrianne) of Beaver Dam; sisters-in-law and
brothers-in-law, Lorraine Gengler, Glen (Delores) Higgins, Florence (Malen)
Warczypowa, Richard (Irene) Higgins and Roger (Faye) Higgins, all of Medford,
Wilford Butler of Withee and Marie Nelson of Phillips; 12 grandchildren, Laura
(Rafael) Vela, Aaron Maeder, Brad (Ann) Maeder, Michelle (Bradford) Davison,
Rochelle (Tod) Whitman, Adam (Nicole) Gengler, Cynthia Leneau, Jeanine Leneau,
Laura (Erik) Arnold, Sherman Gengler, Sarah Gengler and Nicholas Gengler; 22
great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers
and sisters, Catherine Brown, Theresa Zeman, Isabelle Sigmund, Anthony, Matt and
Delores Sigmund.
The family requests memorials or masses to Holy Angels School Trust Fund.
