Barnett, Mahlon M. (August 14, 1926 - May 14, 2010)

Mahlon M. Barnett, 83, of Gilman, died Friday, May 14 at his home.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1926 in Ava, Ill., the son of the late Jesse and Bertha (Verimun) Barnett.

The family moved to the Gilman area when Mahlon was a young man. He went on to serve his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his service, he was a crane operator for many years in the Hammond, Ind., area. After his retirement, he moved back to Gilman where he's lived since.


Mahlon is survived by his brother, George (Gladys) Barnett of Jim Falls; two sisters, Delores (Burnell) Thompson of Thorp and Sylvia (Ray) Olejnichak of Gilman; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Jesse and Delmar; and sisters, Judith and Ellen Miller and AnnaBelle Kenner.


A funeral service was held Monday, May 17 at Gilman Funeral Home. Burial was at Meadowbrook Cemetery.
