Euclide, Donald J. (July 3, 1928 - January 4, 2010)

Donald J. Euclide, 81, Medford, died Monday, Jan. 4 at Woodstock Health and Rehab Center in Kenosha, where he had resided the past three months.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 8 at 11 a.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Deacon Joseph Stefancin officiating, and military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers are Alex Oas, Bradley and David McKibben, Mark Campbell, Larry Euclide and Ron Euclide Jr.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan 7 from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, Jan. 8 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Hemer Funeral Home.

Donald Euclide was born July 3, 1928 in Brussels to the late Joseph and Lena (Mathey) Euclide. He attended Rio Creek Elementary School in Door County, was a 1946 graduate of Casco High School in Casco, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1947.

On May 28, 1952 in Manchester, Iowa, he married Thelma Thorson, who preceded him in death on May 31, 2008.

He taught high school in Maiden Rock and Abbotsford, and while in Abbotsford also worked as an insurance agent. He moved to Medford in 1957 where he worked as the executive director of the Taylor County ASCS office until his retirement in 1989. He also operated Euclide Tax Service for many years. He was a past member of Medford Curling Club, WASCO organization, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford Knights of Columbus, Chequamegon Bird Club, Friends of the Medford Library, and various card clubs and softball leagues. He enjoyed woodworking, agate, playing cards, bird watching, hunting, fishing, gardening, polka dancing and traveling.

Survivors include a son, Dale of Medford; three daughters, Joanne (Clyde) McKibben of Mauston, Diane Euclide of Racine and Sandra (Dan) Oas of Shakopee, Minn.; a sister, Joan King of South Milwaukee; two brothers, Norbert (Mary) of Chilton and Earl (Donna) of Appleton; two daughters-in-law, Georgiana Euclide of Waukesha and Vallerie Euclide of Medford; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, Allan and Ronald; a granddaughter, Theresa Euclide; and three brothers, Vincent, Clayton and Joseph Jr.
