Mayer, Lenora M. (Werner) (January 10, 1924 - December 17, 2009)

Lenora M. Mayer, 85, Medford, died Thursday, Dec. 17 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where she had been a patient the past three weeks.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 21 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Burial was at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Pallbearers were her nine grandchildren, Ryan Blennert, Tania Skaletski, Derek Shewczyk, Amy Wicks, Courtney Klingbeil, Steven Voss, Callie Crass and Erich and Anne Mayer.

The former Lenora Werner was born January 10, 1924 in Medford to the late Herman and Minnie (Haenel) Werner. She attended Hillcrest Elementary School in the Town of Chelsea. On January 20, 1942 in Medford, she married Arthur J. Mayer, who preceded her in death on October 11, 2007.

She worked at Eddies Bakery and McCain's Clothing Store, both in downtown Medford, then for 22 years at Tombstone Pizza Corp. until 1986, then at Hoffman's Ben Franklin until 1995. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Our Ladies of Holy Rosary and Medford VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, canning, crafts and her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (David) Shewczyk of Thorp, and Midge (George) Blennert and Dani (Dewey) Sebold, both of Medford; two sons, Tom and John (Jayne), both of Medford; three sisters, Leona Krug and Dottie Dietzman, both of Medford, and Lauretta Multerer of Marshfield; a brother, Bob (Rosemary) of Medford; two sisters-in-law, Irene Werner of Medford and Dorothy Werner of Chippewa Falls; nine grandchildren, Ryan (Renate) Blennert, Amy Wicks, Tania (Matt) Skaletski, Derek (Jodi) Shewczyk, Courtney (Jesse) Klingbeil, Callie (Jake) Crass, Erich (Katrina) Mayer, Anne Mayer and Steven Voss; six great-grandchildren; friend, Charlene Doyle of Medford; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Frischman and Pearl Mildbrand; and four brothers, Milton, Eddie, Harold and Leon Werner.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to Holy Rosary Church and School.

MEDFORD - Lenora M. Mayer, 85, of Medford died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009, at Memorial Health Care Center, Medford.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, followed by burial in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hemer Funeral Home, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Catholic prayer service.

Lenora was born Jan. 10, 1924, at Medford, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Haenel) Werner. She was united in marriage Jan. 20, 1942, at Medford to Arthur J. Mayer. He preceded her in death Oct. 11, 2007.

She worked at Eddies Bakery and McCain’s Clothing store, both in downtown Medford, for periods of time. She then worked 22 years at Tombstone Pizza Corp., until 1986, and then at Hoffman’s Ben Franklin until 1995.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (David) Shewczyk of Thorp, Midge (George) Blennert and Dani (Dewey) Sebold, both of Medford; two sons, Tom and John (Jayne), both of Medford; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by three sisters, Leona Krug and Dottie Dietzman, both of Medford; and Lauretta Multerer of Marshfield; and a brother, Bob (Rosemary) Werner of Medford.
