Nezval, Anton Frank (January 16, 1913 - September 21, 2009)  

 

Anton "Tony" Frank Nezval, 96, Rib Lake, died Monday, Sept. 21 at Golden LivingCenter in Rib Lake.  

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers will be John M. Gallistel, Brian Gallistel, Jeff Nelson, Blaze Beyer, Rodney Beyer and Daniel Beyer. 

 

Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

 

Anton Nezval was born January 16, 1913 in Algonquin, Ill., to the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Sliek) Nezval.  

 

He attended school in Algonquin before the family moved to Goodrich in 1921, then he attended school in the Goodrich area. In 1934, the family moved to the Rib Lake area. 

 

On July 1, 1939 on the family farm, he married Mary Judnic, who preceded him in death in 1995. He owned and operated a dairy farm until retiring in 1978, and also was employed at various lumber camps. 

 

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He enjoyed playing cards, especially sheepshead, cribbage, polka dancing, spending time with his grandchildren, playing dart ball and gardening. 

 

Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Jerry) Hoffman of Rib Lake and Sharon (Duane) Broeske of Abbotsford; a son-in-law, John Gallistel of Medford; a sister-in-law, Isabelle Nezval of Rib Lake; seven grandchildren, Kevin Gallistel, John Gallistel, Brian (Laura) Gallistel, Mary (Kip) Swope, Daniel (Carol) Beyer, Rodney (Kim) Beyer and Karen (Jeff) Nelson; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. 

 

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Gallistel in 2005; a sister, Sylvia Nezval; and two brothers, John and Joseph.  

 

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
