Liazuk, Robert S. (March 23, 1940 - September 11, 2009)  

 

Robert S. Liazuk, 69, Brooksville, Fla., died Friday, Sept. 11.  

 

A funeral mass was held Thursday, Sept. 17 at St. Liborius Church in Steger, Ill. Interment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill. 

 

Robert Liazuk was born March 23, 1940 in Gilman to Stanley and Rose (Glebke) Liazuk.  

 

He graduated from Gilman High School in 1958, then entered the United States Army. 

 

In November 1964, he married Evelyn Sparr, who preceded him in death.  

 

He retired as a plant manager from HRR in Chicago, Ill., in 2005. 

 

He enjoyed golfing. 

 

Survivors include his wife Juanita, who he married August 19, 2006; his mother, Rose Liazuk of Gilman; three children, Susan (John) Summers, Rita Liazuk and Robert W. (Christine); five step-children, Robert (Krys) Combs, Robbin (John) McCullough, Mike Combs, Renee (Kevin) Schell and Chris (Julie) Disney; four sisters, Ellen Liazuk of Crestwood, Ill., Diana (Jon) Hillstead of Wisconsin Rapids, Carolyn (Allen) Siok of Gilman and Jayne Kaczmarcik of Marshfield; one brother, Bruce (Nancy) of Medford; three grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren. 

 

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his father; and two brothers, Gary "Butch" and Ronald.  

 

Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel of Steger assisted the family with arrangements.
