Tischendorf, Marvin L. (July 24, 1931 - August 12, 2009)  

 

Marvin L. Tischendorf, 78, Medford, died Wednesday, Aug. 12 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital palliative care unit where he had been a patient for the past two days.  

 

Funeral services are Saturday, Aug. 15 at 2 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Dorchester Public Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Galen, Patrick and Randy Raasch, Jeff Lotter, Scott Ridderbusch, and (one other person who wishes to remain unnamed).

 

Marvin Tischendorf was born July 24, 1931 at Dorchester to the late Paul and Hattie (Grabowski) Tischendorf.  

 

He was educated in Dorchester area schools. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. 

 

His marriage to Lovalice "Alice" Knoll, who survives, took place September 3, 1958 in Bessemer, Mich. After the service, he held various jobs as a mechanic, carpenter and repair man in the Abbotsford, Dorchester and Medford areas. They also owned and operated Northern Lights supper club north of Medford until ill health forced his retirement in 1979. In retirement, he worked various other jobs helping people. He enjoyed his grandchildren and his favorite hobby was fixing things. 

 

In addition to his wife, survivors include three daughters, Tammy (Galen "Opie") Raasch of Medford, Trudy (Jeff) Lotter of Marathon, Tracy (Scott) Ridderbusch of Rhinelander; one son, Terry (Rita) Tischendorf of Medford; six grandchildren, Pat (Stacie) Raasch of Neenah, Randy Raasch (fianceé, Melissa Allmann) of Wausau, (one wishing to remain unnamed) , Brylee and Kolby Ridderbusch of Rhinelander; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Michael Raasch of Neenah; one sister, Fern Hargraves of Abbotsford; one brother-in-law, Jerry Frey of Stetsonville; one sister-in-law, Delores Tischendorf of Tomahawk; and one aunt, Helen Mueller of Abbotsford. 

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Raasch in 1978, two sisters, Delores Frey and Joyce Steevens, and a brother, Donald Tischendorf. 

 

Memorial donations in Marvin's memory may be made to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services of Wausau.
