Emstrom, Clara F. (Leuthy) (July 14, 1927 - August 11, 2009)
Clara F. Emstrom, 82, Medford, died Tuesday, Aug. 11 at her home in the Town of Grover, under the care of her family and hospice.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Whittlesey, with Rev. Randal Jeppesen officiating. Burial will be at Perkinstown Community Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob and Jerry Schmeiser. Active pallbearers will be Joe Kleutsch, Jerry and Rick Pask, Allan Kasparek, Dionn Dassow and Ted and Ned Fischer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, and at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
The former Clara Leuthy was born July 14, 1927 in the Town of Molitor to the late Henry and Frieda (Clausnitzer-Schmeiser) Leuthy. She attended Medford area elementary schools and was a 1945 graduate of Medford High School.
In 1948 in Medford, she married Jolly L. Armstrong, and they later divorced.
On June 1, 1968 in Wausau, she married Fred G. Emstrom, who preceded her in death on July 29, 2002. She worked as a secretary at DuPont Paint Co. in Chicago, Ill., and Wausau Insurance Co., and operated "Ozone" weather station for the Environmental Protection Agency from 1988 to 2005.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching birds, sewing, traveling and dining out with the church group.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy (Duane) Dassow of Burlington and Connie (Ray) Griesbach of Rhinelander; three sons, twins Jeff Armstrong of Waukesha and Jan (fiancé Barb Schein) Armstrong of Medford, and Fred E. (Kelly) Emstrom of Medford; three sisters, Lydia Kleutch and Emma Kasparek, both of Medford, and Elsie Pask of Greenville; 11 grandchildren, Dionn and Jessie Dassow, Gini Griesbach, Nicole, Jamie, Jackie, Amber, Ashley and Autumn Armstrong, and Kendra and Brady Emstrom; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by nine brothers.
The family requests memorials in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
