Berschel, Elizabeth "Betty" M. (Serley) (January 21, 1926 - August 7, 2009)  

Elizabeth "Betty" M. Berschel, age 83, of Medford, formerly of Owen, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, under the loving care of Hope Hospice. 

Betty's funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. The Reverend David Clements officiated. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery in the Town of Hixon. 

Elizabeth was born January 21, 1926 in Marshfield, the daughter of Albert and Irna Serley.  

Betty received her education by attending Marshfield schools and graduating from Marshfield High School.  

After high school, she met and married Fred Berschel and they moved to Westchester, Ill. During that time Betty worked as a secretary for an insurance agency until the early 1970s when they moved to Perkinstown, later moving back to the Chicago, Ill., area for a number of years. After Fred passed away, she moved to Owen. 

Betty's hobbies included reading, fishing and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. 

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; and her sister, Thelma Harp. 

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.
