Lang, Marvin E. (August 6, 1912 - August 5, 2009)  

 

Marvin E. Lang, 96, Medford, died Wednesday, Aug. 5 at his home, under the care of his family and hospice.  

 

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Carl J. Busse officiating. Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers will be Krist Punzel, Marvin Lang III, Jim Scheel, Robert Krakowiak, Craig Sazma and Nathan and Andrew Lang. 

 

Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. 

 

Marvin Lang was born August 6, 1912 in the Town of Medford to the late George E. and Emelia (Pietch) Lang.  

 

He attended Medford area elementary schools and Medford High School. From 1933 to 1936 he worked as a truck driver in the Rib Lake CCC Camp. 

 

On February 11, 1936 in Rib Lake, he married Grace E. Patterson, who preceded him in death on July 6, 1966.  

 

On April 13, 1974 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, he married Lulu Mae Baumgartner, who survives.  

 

He worked at Hurd Millwork in Medford for 42 years until his retirement. 

 

He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church where he had served as council president, served as president of Hurd Credit Union and Hurd Local Union. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. 

 

In addition to his second wife, survivors include three children, Marvin Jr. of Woodstock, Ill., Jule Dennis "Dutes" Lang of Medford and George (Joyce Ecklund) of Waukesha; six stepchildren, Greg (Juleen Brecke) Blume of Abbotsford, Faye (Jeff Ludwig) Neubauer and Lisa Blume, both of Medford, Jeff (Loretta Elliott) Blume of Cudahy, Diana (Jim) Yaron of Glenwood City and Scott (April) Blume of Unity; 13 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. 

 

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Scheel; three brothers, Victor, Walter and Norman; a sister, Clara Helms; and six siblings in infancy. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hope Hospice.
