Harris, Richard "Dick" E. (November 17, 1941 - July 30, 2009)
Richard "Dick" E. Harris, 67, Stetsonville, died Thursday, July 30 at his home, under the care of his family and hospice, of cancer.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 3 at First Baptist Church in Medford, with Pastor Luke Hatfield and Pastor Tim Becker officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Jessie, Casey and Cody Ferguson, and Jack, Ella, Nicole, Ryan, Arianna and Carson Harris.
Richard Harris was born November 17, 1941 at the home farm in the Town of Little Black to the late Eldon Daniel and Veria Mae (Dahl) Harris.
He attended Stetsonville Elementary School and was a 1960 graduate of Medford High School.
On May 3, 1975 at The United Church of Christ in Medford, he married Gloria Jean Piller, who survives. He worked in the Dorchester area until moving to Belvidere, Ill. in 1966 where he worked for Chrysler Corp. for 35 years, until retirement in 2001 when he returned to Stetsonville.
He was a member of United Auto Workers 1268. He enjoyed giving gummy bears to small children, traveling, camping, fishing, spending time working on cars and his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Kim (LeRoy) Ferguson of Lake City, Minn.; three sons, Regan of Huntington Beach, Calif., Heath (Dianne) of Colonial Heights, Va., and Nicholas (Chrissy) of Roscoe, Ill.; a brother, Gary (Karen) of Stetsonville; three sisters, Judy (George) Hansen of Medford and Joyce (Ray) Piller and Julie (Dennis) Nofsinger, both of Stetsonville; four sisters-in-law, Roxanne Harris of Belvidere and Charlotte (John) Drolshagen, Mary "Jo Jo" (Raymond) Henrichs and Terri (Kent) Flora, all of Medford; and nine grandchildren, Jessie, Casey and Cody Ferguson and Ryan, Arianna, Jack, Ella, Nicole and Carson Harris.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel in 2008; and in-laws, George and Becky Piller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
