Gruneberg, Ronald E. (August 21, 1932 - April 20, 2010)
Ronald "Ron" E. Gruneberg, 77, Medford, died Tuesday, April 20 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where he had been a patient the past three days.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22 at 6 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating, and military rites performed by the Medford Military Honors Team. Burial will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers are Eric and Kyle Poncek, Morgan Gruneberg, Mike Gravitter and David Tupper.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the time of
the service.
Ronald Gruneberg was born August 21, 1932 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Erich
and Greta (Berg) Gruneberg. He attended various elementary schools and was a
1951 graduate of Medford High School. He served in the United States Navy as a
cook for four years.
On June 13, 1959 at St. James Church in Wausau, he married Gail L. Gravitter,
who survives. He completed his journeyman as a printer and was a member of the
International Printing and Graphic Communications Union under the direction of
The Star News. After 21 years of working for The Star News, he started The Print
& Litho Shop in Medford in 1976, which he operated until his retirement.
He was a past member of Medford Curling Club, Medford Lions Club, Tee Hi Golf
Club and Connors Lake Association. He enjoyed their cabin on Connors Lake near
Phillips, cooking, hunting, fishing, golfing and family time with the
grandchildren and their Labrador dogs.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Kimberly (Michael)
Poncek of Medford, Patrick (Terri Anderson) of Apple Valley, Minn., and Bradley
of Sheboygan; and three grandchildren, Eric (Kayla Roiger) Poncek of Rib Lake,
Kyle Poncek of Medford and Morgan Gruneberg of Sheboygan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Holy Rosary School or
Taylor County Humane Society.
Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
