Rice, John A. (April 4, 1963 - June 27 2009) 

 

John A. Rice, 46, Town of Chelsea, died Saturday, June 27 at his residence.  

 

Funeral services were Tuesday, June 30 at the Hemer Funeral Home in Medford with Rev. Peter Warmanen officiating. 

 

John Rice was born April 4, 1963 at Oconto Falls to Gerald and Charlotte (Bitters) Rice. He attended Oconto Falls and Medford Area schools. 

 

His marriage to Sandy Bratz, who survives, took place November 14, 1987 in Chilton.  

 

From 1987 to 1997, he worked at Chilton Metal in Chilton as an extrusion operator. They then moved to the Medford area in 1997 where he worked at Weathershield Mfg. as an extrusion operator until the time of his death. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. 

 

In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Charlotte of Hilbert, daughter, Jessica (Robert) Bagnall of Portage; a son, Michael (Kora Serrano) Rice of Medford; a granddaughter, Kora Reynolds of Dorchester; and a sister, Jennifer (Kurt) Geiger of Potter. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

 

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Ann; and a brother, Jay in infancy. 

 

In lieu of flowers Memorials can be made in John's name to Black River Industries 650 Jensen Drive Medford, WI 54451.
