Clarkson, Dorothy "Dot" D. (Doberstein) (October 23, 1930 - June 20, 2009)
Dorothy "Dot" D. Clarkson, 78, Medford, died Saturday, June 20 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past four months, recently under hospice care.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 23 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev. Carl Busse officiating. Burial was at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Chad Dietsche, Josh Clarkson, Mike Garten and Jeramie and Shawn Duellman.
The former Dorothy Doberstein was born October 23, 1930 in Warren, Pa., to the late Fred and Gladys (Ellingson) Doberstein.
She attended Wayside Elementary School in the Town of Hammel and Medford High School. She worked as a waitress at the Ideal Cafe in Medford, then as a mother's helper in Milwaukee.
On November 13, 1948 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, she married Ervin Clarkson, who survives. They lived in the Town of Grover and she was employed in the kitchen at Memorial Hospital of Taylor County for 25 years until her retirement.
She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a former PTA president, 4-H leader, and volunteered at several community events and programs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, crafting and hospitality was her specialty.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Peggy (Peter) Dietsche of Eland, Bill of Stevens Point, Doreen (Mike) Garten of Albuquerque, N.M., and Robin (Mike Jeske) Duellman of Gilman; two brothers, Robert (Carrie) of Cameron, N.C. and Melvin (Marlene) of Medford; two sisters, Shirley (Marlin) Anderson of Nekoosa and Phyllis (Gene) Born of Medford; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey in 2007 and Randy in 1969; a grandson, Nathan Clarkson in 1998; a daughter-in-law, Sue Clarkson in 2008; and a brother Fritz in 1990.
