Ulrich, Howard Omar (November 27, 1922 - December 13, 2008)

 

Howard Omar Ulrich, 72, Medford, died Saturday, Dec. 13 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 17 at First Baptist Church in Medford, with Rev. Brian Wipf officiating. Interment will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date.


Howard Ulrich was born November 13, 1936 in Washburn, Ill., to the late Ervin and Mildred (DeWalt) Ulrich.

 

He attended Eureka Grade School in Eureka, Ill. and graduated from eighth grade at Prentice Grade School.


On January 3, 1959 in Ogema, he married Margaret Deloris Liljedahl, who preceded him in death on May 22, 1974.

 

On March 1, 1975 at First Lutheran Church in Ogema, he married Shirley Ann Woolsey, who survives. He was a truck driver for Marten Transport in Mondovi for 33 years. He moved back to the area in 2000 and lived in Medford for the past 14 years.


He was a member of First Baptist Church and past member of Ogema Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing.


In addition to his wife Shirley, survivors include three sons, Kenneth of Seattle, Wash., Scott of Medford and Timothy M. (Edna) of Appleton; two daughters, Cathleen Schuppel and Patricia Ulrich, both of Medford; four brothers, Frank (Elaine) and Peter (Kathy), both of Ogema, Dave (Latrella) of Valdosta, Ga., and Roger (Eileen) of Chelsea; three sisters, Virginia Larson of Glendale, Ill., Linda Taylor of Tomahawk and Carol (Wayne) Schoening of Oshkosh; two granddaughters, Lisa Marie (Andrew) Preuss and Gillian Ulrich; 1 great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Deannie Ulrich; special buddy, Sport; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Danny; a son-in-law, Glenn Schuppel; and a brother-in-law, Hugh Taylor.

 

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
